Oils for First Aid

By The Petite Plantation - October 15, 2018

Essential oils and plant medicine have been used in history for thousands of years to treat a wide variety of physical and emotional ailments. They are the what people used before we could run to a pharmacy! So, the return of essential oils isn't really trendy or a fad, it's people living wildly and returning to a simpler natural medicine that worked for human kind for centuries so it only makes sense that you would want to add them to your First Aid Kit!

We have two first aid kits because, boys... I am always with oils and bandaids and often find myself sharing with other parents on the playground. The biggest First Aid Kit we have is a plastic box we keep in our home on wheels, it has larger items like a roll of gauze, scissors and is basically used to restock the Second First Aid Kit. This one is a much smaller kit, I have thrown in my purse.

These oils below I have in my bag to use for just scrapes, cuts and bug bites really. If you have broken an arm or are bleeding profusely, drop what you are doing and seek medical advice! Don't use this blog post as medical advise.

Geranium | I use this on cuts, scrapes or broken skin.

Tea Tree | Germ destroying and cleansing to the skin, so I will put it on broken skin. Its stings a little but I usually follow up with either Lavender or Correct-X because it has Lavender in it.

Lavender | Soothing to the irritated skin, burns, irritations. It can also be used when you are having feelings of anxiousness or stress.

Peppermint | Cooling provides sensation to the skin and body. It also helps to relieve tension or a green tummy!

ZenGest | To support healthy digestion, just in case! I'll use this when we are out and if I ate something I probably shouldn't have!

Frankincense | Soothing and promotes healthy cell growth. I also is an amplifying oil so I'll add it to other oils to help them work harder.

Fractionated Coconut Oil | To dilute the oils so they stay don't evaporate so quickly!

Correct-X | Basically, similar to a Polysporin but natural and made with essential oils!

OnGuard Sanitizing Spray | To help protect against unwanted pathogens and bacteria.

TerraShield Spray | I use this as an insect repellant!

If you have specific questions or health concerns you would like to talk more about, you can always find me on Instagram or Facebook! I really enjoy talking about oils with others because they have changed my life.
