Watch our garden grow on Instagram!
This book was written for me, or people just like me, who have a small amount of land and limited time to devote to it everyday. Amy shows us how to grow with what we have and the time we have available, how to maximize our productivity & harvests, and how to manage our time to reap the rewards of a backyard farm in only 15 minutes a day. Which is perfect for our lifeschool family with such little time to grow all our own food during the season because we really want to spend more time exploring the beautiful east coast!
Amy also owns Tenth Acre Farm, a suburban permaculture farm and blog, where she puts into practice all of the tools provided in the book on her 10th of an acre property: companion planting, composting, soil amendments, natural pest prevention and so much more. Her blog is an inspiration with endless resources for gardeners and homesteaders. She has also provided additional free resources on her blog from the book with video tutorials and printable documents to help you plan your garden, manage your time and reap the benefits of your micro-farm. I particularly found her Seed Starting & Planting Worksheet incredibly helpful when planning this year's garden! (You'll need to get the book to take advantage of these resources!)
The book itself is a beautiful, no non-sense, easy to read and navigate guide with step-by-step tutorials, handy reference charts, and full colour relevant photography from her own mirco-farm that takes you from the beginning planning stages all the way to harvesting and putting your garden to bed at the end of the season. It shows you how to choose which plants to grow, how to create beautiful soil, how to avoid garden disasters and so much more essential knowledge I wish I had at the beginning of my first garden season!

Check out my horribly hilarious garden fails!
This book has already inspired me to take the leap and expand my garden, create a swale, plant more perennials and more edible landscaping on our urban homestead and her book makes all these garden dreams accessible with the help of simple and concise diagrams in the book. Amy has taken all the wisdom from a seasoned green thumb and laid it all out clearly for the beginner gardener, like myself!
If you want to check out her book, The Suburban Mirco-Farm, you can find more information on it here. It is set to release on March 26th! You won't regret it!
And Amy, thank you so much for writing me a book! I mean, you did write this book for me, right?
