All About Lavener!Lavender is a shurb-like staple on every homestead and is often used to attract beneficial pollinators and for the plants medicinal uses. It has a fragrant soothing and calming aroma and the dried blossoms can be used for teas, tinctures, salves or in a relaxing bath to soothe the skin and emotions.
But did you know, lavender is actually from the mint family which there are about 47 other varieties of? During Roman times, the lavender flowers were sold at a high cost of about a months worth of salary and was used mainly for bathing.
Lavender is an excellent perennial to add to your garden for:
- container gardening
- for drying
- borders and hedges on vegetable gardens
- attracting pollinators and beneficial bugs
- drying to use for medicinal purposes
