Guy DIY: Beard Balm

December 29, 2017
I am so happy to finally post this Guy DIY! I had to keep it super secret for so long because it was a gift for my main man. He tries to use the essential oils and is intrigued by them but doesn't really know where to start so, I'm doing a series called Guy DIY! This first in this series is a Beard Balm!

Why do you need a Beard Balm?

Beard Balm is like a leave in conditioner for your big beautiful beard. It conditions, moisturizes, softens and helps you style your beard. If used regularly on a clean beard, it will keep it healthy, strong, soft and shiny. Just like the health of a woman's head of hair, caring for your beard gives the impression you care about your self and your appearance.

Caring for your Beard

Caring for your beard is similar to the hair on your head. Wash it regularly, apply a small amount of beard balm as a conditioner gently massaging it in and finally, comb out any tangles. Keeping it trimmed is also important!

Essential Oils Used

With a living diffuser on your face, I have chosen not only functional essential oils, but oils for the working man to provide focus and a positive mood to start your day off right!

ARBORVITAE | Powerful cleanser and purifier, natural insect repellent, woodsy aroma.
ROSEMARY | Helps reduce nervous tension and fatigue.
CEDARWOOD | Promotes clear & healthy skin, helps skin recovery quickly, soothing woodsy aroma.
DOUGLAS FIR | Promotes a positive mood and sense of focus, cleansing & purifying to the skin, clean, fresh & woodsy aroma.

Guy DIY: Beard Balm

Ingredients:
1/2 cup Organic coconut oil
1/4 cup grated Organic Beeswax or pellets
1 teaspoon Fractionated Coconut Oil
10 drops Arborvitae Essential Oil
10 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
5 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
5 drops Douglas Fir

In a double boiler, (a heat safe glass, sitting in a pot of water over low-medium heat) melt and combine the coconut oils and beeswax. Once completely melted, remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes then add the essential oils and stir. Let the Beard Balm sit overnight to set.

Quality Essential Oils are Key!

Buying essential oils from grocery stores or supermarkets just won't do! These oils have fillers, preservatives, and additives added and are not pure. If you are looking for Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils, you can learn how to get the good stuff here.
